Happy April Fool’s Day from all of us here at MediaTrust. To those of you expecting some grand prank, we’re afraid you’re going to be disappointed. But come on, it would be so predictable anyway, right? We thought you’d rather spend your time usefully learning about something like, say, the performance marketing industry in China. Our field reporter, Itay Paz of Affilicon checks in from the Great Wall. Our offer this week is Bintro - #2122 on the Advaliant Platform. It an exclusive! Finally, we wanted to wrap up our SXSW coverage by hearing what YOUR favorite things are about attending this popular Austin pilgrimage. We rounded up some of the best and the brightest in our industry including: Matt Browne of Morefocus Media, Diane Deseta of White Knight, Mike Barash of Blurb, Stephanie Agresta and Chris Noble of Kompolt. If you haven’t been to SXSW before, we think this segment will make it a “must attend” event next year.
We gathered so much great content at SXSW and this week we want to bring you a great interview with Christopher Smith and the Event Director of SXSW Interactive, Hugh Forrest. They talk about how SXSW stays ahead of the curve in trends and technology and how involving their audience in their decisions has kept them out front.
This week we’re bringing you a rock n’ roll slideshow based on the photography of Brian Brodeur. Brian accompanied me on the trip and acted as our production assistant during the Relevantly Speaking shoots. During our downtime Brian captured over 400 photos of the expo hall, evening parties and the sites of Austin.
This week, we’re packing our bags and taking RS on the road to Austin Texas for SXSW Interactive. We’re excited to check on the state of social media and technology and how they both fit into the grander scheme of performance marketing. Do you have an opinion? Please email me at sparent AT mediatrust DOT com to get on the interview schedule.
We’re also talking more about Robert Scoble’s departure from FastCompany. I blogged about it last week. Why did it happen? What could Scoble and Seagate have done differently? What does this teach us about marketing in a down economy?
Revenews is reporting that Rep. Barney Frank of Massachusetts, is looking to overturn the U.S. ban on online gambling. Frank announced he would be pushing legislation in the House to repeal the ban. The repeal of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act would bring in an estimated $52 billion in tax revenue over the next decade.
This week we’re watching a development regarding California Assembly Bill 178. This is the Golden State’s version of New York’s infamous Amazon Tax Law. Many in our industry believe this threatens the business relationships between small publishers and larger advertisers. Scott Jangro wrote a great post about it on his blog.
Blogger & Advaliant Publisher, Ian Fernando visited the MediaTrust Mothership in New York last week. We wanted to show you a clip from an interview that Ian shot with Glenn Pagan, MediaTrust’s SVP of Network Sales. They talked about what makes our company different from others. You can see the full video over at Ian’s blog.
